Paul has served on various United Way of Central Indiana – Hamilton County boards, serving a stint as Hamilton County campaign chair for a few years – the above photo is from one of the years that Paul served as campaign chair.
Service
Paul sees his being elected a judge in Hamilton County as a continuation of his service to the community that his given him and his family so many opportunities. Paul’s wife, Donna, hails from a family of life-long Hoosiers. Donna’s father, Bob Eddleman, grew up on a farm in Pilot Knob, Crawford County, in southern Indiana, and served Indiana in many rolls, the last being as the State Conservationist for Indiana. Donna’s mother, Pat Eddleman, was recently honored by the Wayne Township Schools by her addition to the Ben Davis Memorial Wall for her decades of service. Paul’s wife, Donna a 10-year 4-Her, was an elementary school teacher for 10+ years, the Teacher of the Year Golden Apple Award Recipient at the Sycamore Elementary School in Avon, Indiana, currently works in the Cafeteria at St. Maria Goretti and volunteers many hours at both the church and school. Paul has served his community for decades as well, serving in leadership roles for the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, The United Way of Central Indiana – Hamilton County, Youth as Resources in Hamilton County, the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana St. Thomas More Apostolate, and more recently with Youth Ministry and the Parish Religious Formation Council at his family’s church, St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield, Indiana, and will continue that service should he blessed with being elected a judge.
Perseverance
Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did. Paul’s 28 years in the practice of law, as well as his 53 years of life experiences, have prepared him well to join the distinguished bench of judges in Hamilton County. Paul has had little, having moved to Indiana with his mother and brother after his parents’ divorced, and plenty, after he worked hard to get an education (Carmel H.S. and Indiana University) and fine tuned his legal skills in the courts of Indiana and throughout the United States. Paul has worked for judges during law school, in a small law firm, Harrison & Moberly, and a large law firm, Ice Miller, keeping his Hoosier roots and providing a high level of service to both his clients and the legal community. Paul’s perseverance was triggered and has been sustained by his faith.
Community
Paul is what is commonly referred to as a Hoosier-by-Choice. At the pivotal age of 14, Paul moved to Carmel, Indiana his Freshman year of high school and has now called Carmel home for the past 39 years. Paul’s mom picked Carmel, Indiana because of her own midwestern routes and, more importantly, because one of her sisters worked as a teacher in the Carmel Clay School System. Paul’s mom wanted her boys to have the best education possible and that was possible in Carmel, Indiana. After attending Carmel High School, Indiana University and the McKinney School of Law (formerly known as the Indiana University School of Law – Indiana), Paul chose to remain in Hamilton County, and in Carmel in particular, because of the foundation and security that this great community gave his family at a difficult time in their life. Paul and his wife Donna are long time active members of the St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield, Indiana. Their 2 kids, Lizzie (senior at Guerin Catholic High School) and Eli (8th Grade, St. Maria Goretti Catholic School), love to give back to their community and church in various ways.
